Peter Thomson has been the Club Professional at Erskine Golf Club for over 30 years, and comes from a fine golfing pedigree. Peter was born in Machrihanish and comes from three generations of Thomsons’ who have all held the post of Club Professional at Macrihanish Golf Club, his father, grandfather and great grandfather. His cousin Hector was Scottish Amateur Champion, British Amateur Champion and also Scottish Professional Champion in 1953. Peter turned Professional at the age of 19 and was assistant to the great John Panton at Glenbervie Golf Club, where he concentrated on golf club repairs and golf tuition. He joined Erskine Golf Club in 1978 from Glenbervie and extended his tuition from club to county level. Peter has also held the positions of Chairman of the Scottish Region of the PGA from 1989 to 1994 and Captain of the Scottish Region of the PGA in 1985. Peter qualified as a PGA Rules referee in 1992, and has the honour of representing Scotland at National level in both England and Europe. Peter is an Honorary Member of Erskine Golf Club and the Professional Golfers’ Association.
