James McFadyen

A very keen amateur golfer, James turned professional in 1996 when he worked at Douglas Park Golf Club. Following the sun he went to Real Golf de Bendinat in Majorca where he fully qualified. Coming back home he was head Pro at Clober Golf Club from 2003 - 2007. James took a break from golf for a few years then Peter Thomson recruited him in 2014 and he has worked alongside him for the last 9 years becoming Head Professional when Peter retired in 2023.
James has a very easy going and friendly manner and is an excellent teacher, testified by many of the Erskine members who regularly have lessons. He has coached the Ladies Renfrewshire Team and the Renfrewshire Boys Squad. He is also instrumental in ongoing coaching to the Erskine Junior Girls & Boys who’s numbers have increased in recent years. The Erskine Ladies and Gents teams often have pre season coaching to get ready for the golfing year ahead. He can also be seen working in the community down at St John Bosco and St Anne’s Primary schools in Erskine during their Schools Activity weeks and has done Golf Taster sessions at Park Mains High School.
James also runs very successful out of school Easter, Summer & Autumn Academies for non members.
